 SPRING 2010 FULL NEWS

A very big hello to you all  - we hope you are well & happy and kept warm during the wild snowy winter…
After a short winter rest we have been very busy preparing for a busy year ahead which promises to be pretty full!  Hence we are pleased to bring you our annual newsletter:

MUSIC:

We are excited to announce that Susan’s long awaited solo album, ‘THE RAGGED CROWS’ is to be released in mid March this year.  This CD is written and sung entirely by Susan with instrumentation and production, of course, by Scott – if you wish to see the fantastic full cover art by the lovely Hannah Willow please visit the Music CDs page.

‘THE RAGGED CROWS’ by SUSAN GARLICK  (£12)  March 2010
Bold, insightful songs pulsing with possibility & glimmers of ancient magic,
expressing a deep yearning for the mystery embedded in wild landscapes.
Conjuring images of vast skies, boundless oceans & untamed forests,
these magical songs are infused with the unique wisdom of the ragged crows…

‘THE RAGGED CROWS’ will not be our only release for 2010 however – we have also been writing new material for a joint project which we are about to commence recording.
We are very excited about these magical new songs and hope to release the album during the autumn when we will begin performing some of the tracks from ‘THE MANY COLOURED ROAD’.

THE MANY COLOURED ROAD by Scott Jasper & Susan Garlick  (£12)  Autumn 2010

The many coloured road is at once the path we choose to travel in life with all its variants of light and shade
and at the same time is the multi-hued rainbow, the bridge by which to travel into other realms.
Inspired by ancient mysteries and the light which illuminates the wild lands and shimmering seas,
these songs & chants will travel with you as you journey onwards along your own many coloured road.

We are also finally launching our anticipated book of song lyrics later this year which is now to be called ‘THE MANY COLOURED ROAD: Songs and Chants for the Journey’ and will feature SIX full albums of song lyrics – The Many Coloured Road, The Ragged Crows, Rigantona’s Daughters, Full Circle: Songs of Change & Inspiration, Tides and Earth Dreamers.  It is to be a limited edition release so if you wish to reserve copies in advance please do contact us – it is to be released for sale alongside our brand new album of the same name during the autumn.

CONCERTS:
We will be performing during the daytime at a variety of events this year including the Goddess Festival in Canterbury in July, in addition to offering evening concerts at
the new Healing Weekend in Somerset in July, the fabulous Mercian Gathering in September and at Brightlife on the Isle of Man.
We will also be offering TWO very special full evening concerts to mark the launch of ‘THE MANY COLOURED ROAD’.
These special evenings are to be held in Chacewater near Truro, Cornwall on 29th October (our ONLY gig in Cornwall in 2010)
and Todmorden on the Lancs/W Yorks border on 19th November - both are followed by full day drumming workshops and tickets can be reserved NOW via us.  See Concerts & Contact Us pages.

WORKSHOPS:

Commencing with a half-day African drumming workshop at Todmorden (Lancs) on March 21st, our busy workshop schedule for 2010 also includes a special full weekend musical retreat on the magical Isle of Man in April - full details overleaf.  We are also offering varied full day workshops in the Autumn including Chacewater, Cornwall (30th Oct, the day after our concert); and Todmorden, W.  SPRING 2009 FULL NEWS

A BIG HELLO to you all!
We hope you are all well and happy and had a warm, nourishing winter…

We have decided, as our mailing list has grown considerably, to just send out ONE postal newsletter per year, every spring, with a complete list of events for the year which you may wish to stick to your fridge!  :)
Those of you continuing to receive our newsletter via email will get a full year's diary dates at the end of the newsletter but will also continue to receive an additional autumn update, as well as the odd bulletin!

And, of course, do keep an eye on this page for more frequent updates! x

MUSIC:
Last year we released two new musical offerings which we are delighted to say are both going well - Scott’s alternative solo project ‘CLEARWATER’ and our joint ‘mythic’ album ‘RIGANTONA’s DAUGHTERS’, the latter of which was inspired entirely by Celtic Myth & Legend.  We have particularly enjoyed performing from ‘Rigantona’s Daughters’ and sharing some of the myths & stories of our ancestors with you all, and will continue to perform these songs throughout the year in addition to presenting some new material… This year will also see the release of Susan’s debut solo album ‘THE RAGGED CROWS’, an album of songs written and sung entirely by Susan and produced, of course, by Scott.  This will be released sometime during the autumn alongside our anticipated book of lyrics ‘SONGS OF CHANGE & INSPIRATION’ which will feature five album’s worth of song lyrics – The Ragged Crows, Rigantona’s Daughters, Full Circle: Songs of Change & Inspiration, Tides  and  Earth Dreamers.   The songbook will be a limited edition release only so if you wish to reserve a copy in advance please do contact us on 07814 632931 (NB: our landline is changing soon!).

The reason ‘The Ragged Crows’  will not be available until the autumn is because of our other big news…   ‘Dragonfly Moon’ HQ is relocating!
We are very excited about this move to a very inspirational region and look forward to penning some new songs there once we have settled in!   Despite moving, ‘Dragonfly Moon’ will be very much business as usual – open for mail orders and of course traversing the country regularly exhibiting and performing at a whole host of events, so fear not – you’ll still have the opportunity to see us regularly!

EVENTS:
On the festivals and events front, we are adding a few new exhibitions this year including York, The Goddess Festival in Canterbury and The Mercian Gathering.  During the summer we will mainly be exhibiting at outdoor folk festivals – we attended a couple last year such as Shrewsbury and thoroughly enjoyed being at them, hence adding a few more to our summer schedule for this year, some of which are listed overleaf although some are still tbc.  Those of you in the Somerset area may be interested to know that you do not need to purchase a ticket for Priddy to get into the craft market area, so if you wish to come see us, say hello & check out our new ranges of instruments, you can!   We will also, of course, be present at some of our old favourite events too, such as Brentwood, Lincoln, Buxton, Harrogate, Cardiff (in November) and, of course, Kernowcopia (formerly Cornwall New Age).  At many of the events we will be offering performances & taster workshops so keep an eye on our Diary of Events page for full information.

CONCERTS:
Highlights on the concert front this year include a very special ACOUSTIC & CANDLELIT EVENING CONCERT at the Illogan Wellbeing Centre in Cornwall on June 12th… this gig will see many of our songs performed differently in a special acoustic format - tickets are on sale NOW direct from us and are strictly  limited  so book early to avoid disappointment.  We are also offering evening performances at The Mercian Gathering in September and at a Sacred Music Concert at the Ilkley Complementary Medicine ‘Fringe’ Festival on 23rd October, as well as playing our usual full evening gig at Kernowcopia on Saturday 28th November where we will be offering both an acoustic set AND a full, vibrant set to dance away the evening to!  :)    More information on the Concerts page.

  WORKSHOPS:
Scott has several African drumming workshops organised for the coming year, including more full day workshops than ever (!!) in varied locations around the UK… First up we are excited to be jointly running a very special full weekend musical retreat on the magical Isle of Man in May - full details can be found on the Workshops page.  Varied full day workshops include Illogan, Cornwall (June 13th after our acoustic gig), Weston-Super-Mare (Sept 19th); Todmorden, W. Yorkshire (Oct 24th), Isle of Man (Nov 21st) & Kernowcopia, Cornwall (Nov 30th).  Half-day drumming sessions include Weston, Somerset (June 14th) & Chacewater, Cornwall (Sept 20th)... So lots to choose from!  Bookings for Illogan & the Isle of Man are now open, with bookings for all the others open in April – more information on the Diary of Events and Workshops pages.

INSTRUMENTS & NEW STOCK:
We have some new stock lines on the way including new fair-trade percussion items, a new range of British made North American style wooden flutes, a new range of bells and much more to follow throughout the year…  We also now supply a range of quality folk instruments and as such have a dedicated page on our website - Folk Instruments.  Other new stock lines include a wonderful new storytelling CD by our good friend Jonathon Huet entitled ‘Tree Tales of Ireland’ which is produced by Scott who also supplied some instrumentation for the project (see Music CDs page)... AND a range of photographic art cards: ‘Celtic Sacred Landscapes’ by Susan.  Prints
are also available direct from online art house www.slipperyjacks.com where you can also view a selection of Susan’s evocative images.   And finally, we are also adding a new range of fairly traded natural gifts from around the world to our collection, including more incense, beautiful Thuya wood candle holders from Morocco and much more with a dedicated web page coming soon! (Natural World Gifts)

We very much hope to see many of you during the course of 2009…
Feel free to drop us a line whenever you wish and remember to check our website regularly for news, new products, extra diary dates & the official launch of ‘The Ragged Crows’!

With Many Bright Wishes for the coming year to you all and a big thanks for your continued support of Dragonfly Moon,
SCOTT & SUSAN  xx
