  MOUTH HARPS & CLAVES

Mouth Harps, commonly known as jaw harps, create an amazing array of sounds using the mouth as a sound box.
Claves are simple and yet highly effective - two specially created sticks to tap together using one hand as a sound box.

Excellent, easy to play 'Dan Moi' metal mouth harps complete with colourful cases from NW Vietnam (£7.50 each).
The mouth harp is metal whilst the case is made from wood decorated with traditional hand made silk ribbon.
**Highly recommended!**

These are traditional instruments held between the lips and played by gently pressing the end with your thumb which plucks the middle 'tongue' of the harp.
The mouth resonates and amplifies the sound and the pitch can be altered by moving the tongue inside the mouth and even utilising the voice to create percussive sounds.
(NB: unsuitable for small children as the end is quite sharp.)
